Honor and Support

For Spring 2017, Farm to Feet, makers of 100% American socks, is introducing a collection of hiking socks that celebrates its home state’s premier hiking trail, the Mountains-to-Sea Trail, which stretches from the Great Smoky Mountains to the Outer Banks. Sales from the collection will help support the completion and maintenance of the trail.

2017 marks the 40th anniversary of the Mountains-to-Sea Trail, and we’re proud to support the trail that not only stretches across our state, but passes within 15 miles of our mill where we make our socks.

Mountains-to-Sea Trail collection includes six styles whose designs are inspired by sections of the trails 1,100 miles across North Carolina.

Clingmans Dome

Clingmans Dome

The Mountains-to-Sea Trail begins at Clingmans Dome, which reaches 6,643 feet high and is the highest point in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The men’s Clingmans Dome sunset design is inspired by the last light that sets on the trail.

Elkin Valley

The Elkin Valley section of the trail covers over 60 miles and drops more than 2,000 feet in elevation in six miles as it transitions from the Blue Ridge Mountains to the Piedmont. The Elkin Valley sock, offered in men’s and women’s styles, honors the elevation change with a design featuring abstract topographical contours.

The Sauratown section of the trail connects Pilot Mountain State Park to Hanging Rock State Park and is the section closest to Mt. Airy, Farm to Feet’s hometown. The sock’s striated design was inspired by the sediments that created the Sauratown geologic formations in the area including the unmistakable Pilot Mountain.

W's Hillsborough

Impact Cushioning & Ventilation Zones

Inspired by one of nature’s most durable structures, our honeycomb-shaped hexagonal reinforcement zones stand up to season after season of hard use. Targeted cushioning offers extra protection in the heel, ball, and top of the foot, while multiple ventilation channels facilitate effective air flow and fast drying.

Seamless Toe Closure

Advanced knitting techniques create a totally flat seam in the toe box, reducing bulk and eliminating friction. The result is a better, more comfortable fit that reduces blisters and other abrasion injuries, all without adding unnecessary volume.

Comfort Compression Using LYCRA® Fiber

Featured throughout the Farm To Feet line, our comfort compression technology now utilizes the industry-leading elastic LYCRA® Fiber for added support from the top of the sock through the arch. Comfort compression creates a precise, high-performance fit that minimizes foot fatigue throughout the day.
